The SNES version has a load of weird differences that don't make sense, like the missing intenstines level mentioned, some strange music changes, changed colour palettes, completely different and lamer sound effects used throughout, and even some barely noticable animation cuts the snot platforms at the end of the game don't move at all, they do on Genesis If I remember rightly, the only sort-of positive change between the SNES and Genesis versions is that, in the mid-level interludes, you can press any of the buttons to make Jim say 'Groovy!

Not in the Genesis version, you can't. Obviously, the Special Edition trumps both of them, although the extra level Big Bruty isn't much fun, and there's load times at least, on the Sega CD version.
